Speak Life in 2024 – Christian Affirmations for a Simply Blessed Life

Hello, beautiful souls! Welcome to Simply Waterbury, a place where faith, family, and home converge in a celebration of life’s journey. In this inaugural post, let’s unravel the profound impact of Christian affirmations, recognizing the power of God in the words we speak.

Unleashing God’s Creative Power in Our Words

Our journey begins by acknowledging the transformative power of words—a truth embedded in the very fabric of creation. As God spoke, “Let there be…,” the universe unfolded. His words held the creative force to shape reality.

In a similar vein, our words possess the ability to shape our lives, relationships, and the atmosphere of our homes.

The Biblical Blueprint of Spoken Word

  1. Identity Declaration: Like David, who affirmed his identity in God before facing Goliath, we too can declare, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” This affirmation becomes a powerful shield against doubt and fear.
  2. Strength Proclamation: Echoing Paul’s words, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” we tap into divine empowerment. Speaking this truth cultivates resilience in the face of life’s challenges.
  3. Love Manifestation: Following Jesus’ command to “Love one another as I have loved you,” our affirmations become vessels of divine love. Speaking love fosters compassion, healing, and transformation in our relationships.

Why This is Important to Me

Allow me to share a personal chapter from my journey—when words became my lifeline. In 2015, we thought we had permanently secured our home through a purchase from family members. Not long later, their marriage fell apart and ownership of our home was brought up in their divorce. This required us to go to court, which was a huge blow in itself. (Much longer story here, but not for today.)

Three images from Sarah's SnapChat account sharing her feelings about the court case she was in.
These pics were shared on SnapChat with family and friends back in 2018, in the thick of the court drama.
Some days were easier than others to remain confident.

In fall of 2018, I became pregnant with my daughter. As thrilled as we were to finally be pregnant after 12 years of marriage, it was not the situation we wanted to bring a child into the world. It made things harder on me as I couldn’t stand to think about what life would be like when she was due in June. I didn’t know where we would live, how we would get back up if we lost the house, and what our family situation would be like with those family members.

I took a small group at the church we attended at the time about Spiritual Warfare. Even though I had attended church my entire life, no one had ever taught me how to identify or fight the supernatural battles around me. I was over my head in spiritual warfare and wasn’t armed with more than just faith that God wouldn’t bless us with a baby just to tear us away from our home which was where all of our financial assets were held.

While affirmations weren’t taught to me at the time, I found myself reciting two verses daily as reminders: Ephesians 6:12 and 2 Corinthians 10:4. They reminded me that the enemy was using the people in our lives to attack us head on with our weakest point and that we are to pray and let God fight the battles ahead us for us.

We mended our relationship with one of the family members (but was open to reuniting with both parties) and even though that person wasn’t able to make things completely right, they were able to help us get to mediation and come to an agreement.

A Facebook post I made to my family and friends days before we closed on our house, ending the three year court battle - Psalm 37:7 - Be Still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

Today, we still live in this house, with it legally in our names. I’ve found strength in using God’s Word as the foundation for my daily reminders. His promises have become my source of empowerment, guiding me through each day with unwavering faith.

The Creative Force Within

In the grand narration of creation, God demonstrated the creative force of spoken words. In our lives, affirmations act as the spoken brushstrokes that paint the canvas of our reality. As we declare positive truths grounded in faith, we actively participate in shaping a life aligned with God’s promises.

Speaking Life Over Ourselves and Others

  1. Self-Affirmation: Embrace the power of affirming your worth and purpose daily. As you declare, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made,” witness the transformative impact on your mindset and confidence.
  2. Affirming Others: Extend the creative power of words to those around you. Speak life into the lives of family and friends. Affirm their strengths, purpose, and God-given potential.
