Hey, friend.
This isn’t your typical blog update. I’m not here to tell you that everything is on track and falling neatly into place—because it’s not. I’m here to tell you the truth. I’m here to let you in on what God’s been doing in my life, how He’s been redirecting me, and why I’m trusting God when it doesn’t make sense—even when the details aren’t all figured out.
How I Lost Focus on What God Had Already Assigned Me
If you’ve been here a while, you know I launched Simply Waterbury with big dreams—dreams of building something meaningful around faith, family, and home. But somewhere along the way, I got pulled in other directions.
I started working on a different online business, one built around travel to Walt Disney World. I had this picture in my mind of it funding future family Disney trips and eventually (through a travel agency) getting my husband out of his nine-to-five. But slowly, God gave me signs that this wasn’t His plan for me. I ignored those signs and now something I once loved, trips to Disney World with family, has lost almost all of its flavor.
As I fought against God regarding the direction He wanted me to go, the enemy got involved and made following God’s calling difficult.
Every time I came back to Simply Waterbury—every time I opened a project, outlined a new post, or picked up my planner—the enemy would swoop in. Distractions. Exhaustion. Busyness. Fear. Doubt. Eventually, life would slow down, I’d get motivated again, and then something would come to knock me off course.
I kept waiting for God to lead me… when really—He’d already given it to me.
💬 Side note: When the devil starts wreaking havoc, read that as confirmation to continue whatever it is you’re doing. Through years of ministry work, I’ve seen it firsthand.
When God Spoke Something I Didn’t Expect
Then came April.
I was home alone, frustrated about a lot of things—but especially our house. Not because of the square footage, but because of what it costs us in every way.
We live in a small community with two HOAs. Just one of them is $188 a month. For what? To cut the grass on less than one-tenth of an acre—most of which is covered by the house itself. The rules are confining. The community is rigid. And while many would love to live in a place like this, for someone like me, it feels more like a trap than a blessing.
I’ve had a dream for most of my adult life to move to the Acreage (or Loxahatchee)—a place with more land, more freedom, and more room to breathe. A place where our daughter could play freely. A place where we could grow our family. But with today’s housing market—and our current debt—that dream feels sealed off.
I was venting to myself, halfway praying, when I heard it:
“This time next year, you will be in THE house with a baby in your belly.”
It was like someone had stated it right beside me with absolute confidence. I stood in my kitchen in stunned silence. I brushed it off at first—wondering if it was just my imagination. I hadn’t been as faithful in my prayer time. My quiet time was more like the occasional exhausted mumbling than any sort of deep spiritual connection.
So I asked:
“God, if this is You, confirm it. And if it’s not—take the thought away.”
But He didn’t. He made it clearer.
“Prepare to list the house—in January.”
Trusting God When the Numbers Don’t Add Up
That absolutely terrified me.
We’re still living paycheck to paycheck. We’re still in debt. And even with equity in our home, the numbers don’t work on paper. Homes out there aren’t cheap. But then I remembered: neighbors who sold for over asking price. Foreclosures that sold below market value. Homes that shouldn’t have worked out—but did.
And most importantly—I remembered God is not limited by our finances or our math.
Luke 16:10 — Faithfulness in the Small Things
During my moment of disbelief, God brought a verse to my mind:

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much…” — Luke 16:10 (NIV)
This verse has always stayed with me, but now it means more than ever. We often connect it to money—and yes, it absolutely applies to that. But it’s bigger than finances.
It’s about how I show up behind the scenes.
It’s about fixing a bathroom that’s been in disrepair for nearly a decade—because I’ve been scared to do it alone.
It’s about stewarding what I already have—even when it feels like not enough.
If I can’t care for this house, how can I expect God to give me a new one?
If I can’t lead faithfully with a small audience, how can I handle more?
If I can’t steward my time, energy, or calling—how can I step into the “more” I keep asking for?
God isn’t asking for perfection.
He’s asking for obedience.
He’s asking us to be faithful in the small things.
God Redirected Me Back to Simply Waterbury
Once I finally paused and surrendered, I realized God had never changed His direction for me—I just kept fighting it.
He reminded me why I started Simply Waterbury in the first place: to serve women like me. Women who love God, love their homes, love their families… but feel stretched too thin. Women who want peace, but are walking through chaos. Women who want to fight spiritual battles, but don’t know how.
And I remembered the resources I had already started—quietly, faithfully, in the background.
Here’s What’s Coming
Many of you already know about the Simply Blessed Planner—a grace-filled tool to help Christian women plan with peace. It’s still coming soon.
But I’ve also been building two other systems:
- Simply Balanced: a budgeting toolkit for women who want to get real about their finances without shame.
- Simply Shielded: a scripture-based prayer system for women fighting spiritual battles. It’s for the woman who feels overwhelmed by prayer… and wants help praying with confidence, authority, and purpose.
Why Simply Shielded Comes First
God made it clear: this is where I need to start.
Simply Shielded was born from this very season—where I’ve had to trust God when it didn’t make sense. It’s built from scripture. It’s structured to support busy women. And it’s designed to help you build a daily habit of powerful, effective prayer.
Because prayer isn’t a backup plan—it’s your battle plan.

Introducing The Promised House Project
Honestly, I have asked God multiple times to take the desire for the house away if it didn’t come from him, but he hasn’t and instead keeps diving me deeper into everything.
So here’s what I’m doing next.
I’m preparing for house as He told me. We’re in the process of decluttering. We’re going to fix that bathroom. Stewart what we have. I’m moving forward with Simply Shielded, even if it’s messy.
And I’m documenting the process here on Simply Waterbury.
I’m calling this season The Promised House Project.

But it’s not just about real estate.
It’s about believing that God’s promises are true—even when the path forward is foggy.
It’s about preparing your heart and your home for what’s next.
It’s about obedience, stewardship, and faith over fear.
I want to share the ups and downs, the progress and delays, the victories and hard days.
Because I believe there’s someone else walking through their own “promised house” season—and I want you to know you’re not alone.
